Mood swings in perimenopause and menopause are extremely common, but not always easy to deal with. Mood swings can be ferocious and sudden, and little understood by the woman going through them and the person at the other end of them.
Whatever, they are real, and primarily caused by a hormonal imbalance. When oestrogens decline, so do our mood-regulating neurotransmitters, which results in mood swings. Of course, we need to consider other menopausal symptoms which can have a negative influence on our mood as well.
